A beautiful new Anthropologie store has opened just 5 minutes from my home. I am accustomed to driving 30 minutes for the visual delight of walking into this amazing store. Beautiful clothing and furniture, not to mention the ever changing stunning installations make this store tantamount to an art gallery and a veritable treat to the senses every time.
Photographs taken today at the new Old Orchard Anthropolgie Store, Skokie Illinois. Visit the store online here and just try and stop yourself!

Sunday night here in Chicago and I have just found this wonderful blog called Modern Country. A visual candy bar. Now one of my new favorite blogs. Wondering if I have room for a green house in my new Australian garden. Just what I need.. Another new hobby!!!!!! Not. Better add it to my mile long wish list.

I am not a lover of yellow, but lately have been drawn to adding just a teensy bit. Loving these yellow chairs. Image courtesy of Domino.
The Huntress has it down with these rockstar yellow leather chairs from her grandmother!!!!
Yummy yellow stools.
and ooooh this yellow front door.
I can't quite go there with a big splash, but can't help wanting a little yellow ginger jar after seeing this pic on Brabourne Farm. SO pretty beside the pink peonies.

I love the holidays. Everything about them. Being in America for the last 4 years has taught me to love them even more. I have jumped the gun somewhat here. The standard is usually no Christmas decorations until after thanksgiving. But these aren't Christmas lights are they? just white lights woven through branches sprayed white and my antler collection. Doesn't take much to make me happy. Just some white lights from Walgreens. Two boxes for $10.00!!!!!

I have made a few of these birth announcements. They are little paintings (acrylics on canvas) usually 5"x7". They feature a naive portrait of the family in front of their home watching as the stork delivers the new baby.
A really personal gift for a family which can also be prepared during the pregnancy. The color of the blanket can be added at the last minute once we know whether the baby is a boy or girl.

I went through a silver phase in my last house, but when I moved into this home, there was a lot of gold. I have grown to absolutely love it, especially against a white background, with soft pastel accents. These are a few recent absolutely crucial things I have purchased to add to my golden collection.
Gold and Crystal Curtain Tie Backs from Heritage Trail Antique Mall, Wilmette. Interesting that the tie backs came before the curtains, but I have never seen anything like these before. Yum!
Huge Golden Frame. A birthday gift from the Huntress. Kids all mine.
French Golden Wheat Sconces. Ebay tippoff from the Huntress.

It all started rather innocently when I decided to "stage" my house for sale. I felt like it needed a little sprucing. A little soul. I mentioned this to some girlfriends and to my delight I started to receive the most tantalizing emails of all "The Huntress saw this on ebay and thought of you". Not only am I easily lead, I am also a recovering shopaholic, so ebay has been kind of disastrous for me, but JUST TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT I GOT!!!!!!
Ebay Ginger Jar with Lid
A crazy $14 (US)
Small Anthropologie Dish
(which no one is allowed to put anything in cos its too pretty)

Having spent years living in England, these interiors shots take me right back there. There is something about the light and the palette and the thrown together feel that is so distinctly English. I love the wall detailing.
Could I do this with my new mirror?
Lock me in this padded room with a stack of magazines and don't come back for hours!

Every now and then Ebay is very good to me. Today I "won" this mirror for $160. Picture this in a very modern bathroom with white walls, floors, tiles everything. I'll have to wait and see how brassy the color is before I actually declare this one of the best days of my life. but even if I have to repaint it, I still think I won here big time!
Now all I have to do is learn how to sell stuff on Ebay as my mirror to wall ratio is vastly disproportionate. I LOVE EBAY!

Trying to think of an inexpensive kitchen fix for our temporary kitchen in Sydney. Found these images in my files pinched from my favorite blogger Erin Olsen. I am loving the inexpensive linoleum floors and the revamped 50s cupboards slapped with a coat of paint for a good sprucing.
Loving the Hummingbird wallpaper
Open shelving will give me cheap extra storage space to tie me over. Might have to wait for the stainless counter tops though but my buttercup yellow ones will have to go regardless.
Some cheerful new slipcovers for my barstools like those of Absolutely Beautiful Things blogger, Anna Spiro won't break the budget. And a cute cluster wall will make a small space charming even if a little "tight".
